Ray Ban Aviators

Here are two very nice pairs of Ray ban aviators. The left pair is a medium sized 58cm - Classic Aviator in 24ct 'Arista' gold with the 'Chromax' photochromic lens that darkens when it is exposed to sunlight.

The pair on the right is a cool pair of Rayban 'Caravan' Aviators in the Arista gold also and with the classic G-15 lens

Head to Head

Original cases- these sunglasses have been sourced from new 'old' stock from the Asian manufacturer who held the license to produce the Raybans in the Asian region in the Eighties and Nineties. Thus they are not US made although were produced to the strictest US Rayban standards making Ray Ban more accessible for the new upwardly mobile Asian clientèle....(and people like me years later, after the travesty of Rayban having now been sold off to the Multi-national sunglasses conglomerate 'Luxotica' .

Ray Bans today are a miniature shadow of their former self, Luxotica will still charge full price for them although the quality workmanship and lens quality has been reduced. The great Bausch and Lomb lenses of old have now been replaced with generic glass and poly carbonate lenses, they still provide sun protection although do not have the unique subtlety of lens clarity and definition as did the Bausch and Lomb lenses - Another one bites the dust......that's why I like to grab a legend when i can. Would love to get a pair of my Balorama's that I lost in the UK. nice tortoise shell wrap round - have seen them on Ebay for $260US although that is almost 2 and half times what I paid for them in 1993
